A while ago I blogged about this girl who rode a motorcycle through Chernobyl and photoblogged it. However, it turns out that it might be fake. Not the pictures, how she took them:
"I am sorry to report that much of Elena's story is not true. She did not travel around the zone by herself on a motorcycle. Motorcycles are banned in the zone, as is wandering around alone, without an escort from the zone administration. She made one trip there with her husband and a friend. They traveled in a Chornobyl car that picked them up in Kyiv."
So? Who cares? Are the pictures any less cool? Why does it matter if she took them alone or with a guided tour. If she traveled by motorcycle or doubble decker bus? This seems like some guy who got in trouble trying to cover his ass that no rules were broken.
I know when I saw the site, I was thinking "Wow! Look at the pictures she took!" not "Wow! She's riding a motorcycle!"
