35th - lunch
A Conversation with Eric Schmidt and Leonard Kleinrock
Xeni has great notes from this.
Sorry I didn't take very good notes during this as I thought I'd give my wrist a bit of a break. Leonard was talking with Eric about how untypical most of what Google has done is, and how that continues to the be the plan. Luck seems to be the agreed upon method for pulling it off the way they did. One of the very interesting questions asked by the audience was what info do they have that they wouldn't under other circumstances. Basically, is they something that they know becuase of the collection of info Google has that they never would have known otherwise. The answer is that we're a lot different than we think we are. Eric said you generally think that the people who are around you and that you know are much like the rest of the people in the world, and they aren't. Everyone is searching for something different (in more ways than one) and most people are not looking up the same things.
Heading back for the next session now.
