The New Internetionalism

This post by Jonas that I linked earlier and this comment by Xeni about this story that Joi linked got me thinking. Combine that with my earlier question How am I supposed to tell my friends in other parts of the world that I'm not one of the bad ones? and now theres way too many ideas swirling around. But Xeni's joke might be realistic. What if international became internetional? An online alliance of good guys? A new world blogger. Or Bloggers without Borders or something...

I really have no idea what I'm talking about here, too many ideas running in too many directions. I guess I'm talking about some kind of de-centeralized organization of like minded individuals. It could be something as small as a button on your page which ment you agreed with a certain manifesto or something, or as big as actually taking donations and applying them to a good cause.

Sorry this is so skattered, it's a very undeveloped idea at the moment. One of the things I'm noticing with metroblogging is the community that is being formed. It's a small world that is only getting smaller.

"Bloggers without Borders" has a cool ring to it.

Before your run off into your own little Everquest of the Like-minded, I suggest you read this piece in the Washington Post. It shows what those wanting a change are doing, rather than running away and hiding in some virtual world that will only echo rather than speak.

Fuck David Broder. Do you know what he said about Bill Clinton? "He came in and he trashed the place. And it's not his place."

If those bible-thumping rednecks vote against their own economic interests because they think death-penalty-loving, brown-people-killing Bush better shares their values, they deserve what they get. They voted for Bush because they think he is better at keeping niggers and faggots in their place. This is one liberal NYC faggot that's not getting his head cracked by some cop at an anti-draft rally when Bush needs to draft their kids.

"bob" - which part of " taking donations and applying them to a good cause" is "running away and hiding in some virtual world that will only echo rather than speak" exactly?

Don't bother replying unless you have the balls to use your real name and leave a real contact.

Sean Bonner has been annoying people on the internet since 1994. Currently he lives in Los Angeles and is the co-founder of Metroblogging. Despite growing up in Bradenton, Yahoo! thinks he's the most important "Sean" on the internets. He's sick of labels. This was his blog until sometime in 2007 when it broke. Check out seanbonner.com for current stuff.
