The Register Steals Stories!

Yesterday Jonas Luster noticed an image of George W. Bush on CNN/Netscape.com called "asshole.jpg and promptly blogged it. Today The Register has a story about the exact same thing written by Ashlee Vance in Chicago with NO credit to Jonas at all. In fact, they don't even say a blogger found it. They say "citizen journalists discovered.."

What's that all about? Jonas deserves the credit.

Well, the motto of The Register is 'Biting the hand that feeds IT'. :-)

Bastards.

They'r always so mean to google. I knew there was something they were hiding.

Ashlee Vance and Andrew Orlowski have stolen and plagiarized on many occasions. This is not new for people like them without talent.

Get over it. Many bloggers *are* citizen journalists. Be grateful they called bloggers "journalists" at all.

My scoop on something was lifted this morning in a similar way.

Robert - I've spent a lot of time on this in the past and don't feel the need to revisit it currently, but quickly, for the record - BLOGGERS ARE NOT JOURNALISTS. They aren't trying to be, and they don't want to be. Certainly there are exceptions, and plenty of journalists are now bloggers as well, but that is only because they will have to be if they want to stay relevant. Saying a blogger is a journalist isn't a complement.

Plus, journalists *are* citizens. And Andrew Orlowski is as much a blogger as anyone.

But only bloggers can communicate by telepathy. That's one thing Big Media hacks like Vance and Orlowsky will never be able to do.

The Revolution WILL BE BLOGGED!!

This is a single entry on a blog written by me, Sean Bonner. Please feel free to look around or even join in whatever conversation might be going on. Or don't. See if I care.

Sean Bonner has been annoying people on the internet since 1994. Currently he lives in Los Angeles and is the co-founder of Metroblogging. Despite growing up in Bradenton, Yahoo! thinks he's the most important "Sean" on the internets. He's sick of labels. This was his blog until sometime in 2007 when it broke.
