Blogging and WikiNews
Joi just tipped me off to an
#irc chat about how
wikinews and bloggers can work together (here's the transcript). Joi writes about it
here but basically
Wikinews is a wiki based news source and working better with bloggers is an obvious direction for them to take. A lot was discussed including trackbacks, RSS feeds, autoposting, tags, and
IMing tips to wikipedians. There's still a long way to go but this could be a great step for everyone involved - If bloggers start linking to WikiNews stories more people will read wikinews, if wikinews starts reading blogs they will get info on stories much faster than waiting for other sources. The more people reading wikinews, the more people who will contribute, which makes the site better, which makes more people link to it, etc. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
UPDATE:
This blog has been set up to show new stories on wikinews and includes an Atom feed and trackbacks. I'm subscribing to it now and we'll see if I can't make some use out of it.

Hi, I've set up an experimental/demo blog for new wikinews articles: http://wikinewslatestnews.blogspot.com/. Should be of some use until we have RSS and TrackBack functionality built into the site.
BTW it's currently empty as no-one has written anything :)
