New Daily Read for Palm users
"Scam" is a pretty powerful allegation....there's no fraud at work here....just a lot of people contributing time and energy to something that you're RACING to trash any which way possible.
Yes, we ARE part of the Contagious Media Showdown.
NO, it isn't a "hoax"....any more than Metroblogging is a local media hoax. Blogebrity is launching a full blog/magazine site, complete with a variety of rich interactive content about bloggers. There will be plenty of value/interest (beyond sheer ego) for those interested in bloggers and blogging.
Why are you so down on the idea of engaging in a conversation with the very community that you and Metroblogging are trying to profit from? We felt there was a great opportunity to use the Contagious Media platform to start a large discussion with bloggers about their own pursuits, passions, and blog experiences.
The only thing that changed, from one day ago, is that you discovered we're NOT a commercial outfit, trying to make $$$ exploiting bloggers as an advertising platform. Instead, we're just trying to use a high-profile opportunity to start a conversation, for the good of the community at large.
Perhaps we'd all be better off with videos of us crying over a bowl of Apple Jacks.

Dude? What the crap is your problem?
I've been trying to figure out what this thing you are doing is, and haven't been getting any answers from you. There are a ton of things on the contagious media showdown that are nothing but traffic getting sites, they are there to get links and nothing else. They were set up for the contest and will go away afterwards. Since there's been no word from your end I suspected this was the same thing. Since you are part of a contest designed to see who can get more links, coming up with a "fake" magazine that talks about bloggers is a damn good idea to win that contest. Hell, I fell for it.
I don't care for a second if you are commercial or non-proffit or donating every cent you make to the church of satan - I really don't care at all. I'm not down on it today any more than I was up on it yesterday. Read my posts - yesterday I was asking what it was, and today I'm posting what I've found out.
If you actually are making a magazine then I stand corrected, but if you aren't then I think I'm completely justified calling it a scam to get traffic.
And how the hell is Metroblogging a local media scam? Are my bloggers just pretending to live in those cities?

We like the Metroblogging sites (and SBDC)....we're not trying to go to war over that.
All we ask is that people give us a look once we get our content up, and judge us on those merits, rather than dismiss us as pure "scam" based on our 1 page worth of teaser material.

You do understand how only having one page of teaser material while being part of this contest makes it easy to assume there won't ever been other content, right? And promisses of "more soon" dosen't help that either.
However, if this is real I'll be one of the first to point it out.

That's all we ask.
Oh, and maybe that you let us use Sixspace for the premiere party for the Blogebrity Swimsuit Edition.

I've been tracking this thing for the past two days. It's the reason Blogebrity got Instalanched.
But they didn't acknowledge me, you see, because I'm not "A-list". Whatever. If this *isn't* a scam, it's sadder than sad. Who the hell's going to buy a glossy magazine about blogging when blogs themselves are free??

Zero - Not to step on your toes but I've been on this since Technorati told me they linked to me, I blogged it, then Ed saw it and then you saw it. However, I have no idea why they think I'm A-list, as my traffic hardly backs that clame up. Oddly enough, I think TONS of people would by a mag like that.

Yes, I did get it through Ed. Didn't realize he got it through you.
I've talked with some folks who think this is obviously a joke, and that will be my opinion until/unless they show something more.

Personally, I'm bothered by any ONE entity deciding for the ENTIRE blogopsphere who the A listers are, who the B listers are, and so on. I see very little diversity -- as far as bloggers of color and women. THAT bothers me. And call me whiney all ya want, I really don't care. You're looking at trouble when/if you decide to publish a "magazine" about a community that consists of 8+ million blogs and YOU act as the authoritative voice.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
