"Usefull?"

Like learning how to spell, perhaps?

"You're an ass. Why don't you spend your time on something usefull"

That comment was directed at Bush, right?

Posted by: Sumyunguy on September 7, 2005 10:22 AM

no, the comment was at the idiot that made fun of our President and New Orleans flood victims.

Posted by: Me on September 7, 2005 10:27 AM

Nice. Gotta love the irony. Well done, Sean!

Isn't it funny how pro-Bush commenters commonly misspell the simplest of words? I learned that "useful" only had one "l" in, like, second grade. Perhaps "Me" should read more and comment less.

Posted by: kirk on September 7, 2005 10:27 AM

YEAH!! lay off Bush, it aint his fault, it's CLINTON'S fault. . . unless of course John Kerry were president, then it would be HIS fault (obviously). USA! USA! USA! USA!!!

delayed disaster response time is a small price to pay when we are all now protected from gays getting married. USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!!

Posted by: yer mam on September 7, 2005 11:06 AM

I'm not sure that you've thought through the messag of this photo-creation. Surely you don't think that people aren't allowed to enjoy themselves while a natural disaster is happening. Must we all stop what we're doing, wear black, and mope around in a funk because somewhere a calamity has happened? If you think the municipal, state, and federal disaster-relief agencies didn't do enough -- fine, I agree. But this picture belongs on a mindless cheerleading site like Kos, rather than here.

Posted by: Will on September 7, 2005 11:08 AM

it appears he's trying to play a "G" chord, but is off by one fret: this makes a very sour sound, let's call it the "W" chord.

Posted by: ilyich on September 7, 2005 11:30 AM

AS LONG as your going to rip on President Bush, you had better fire Mr. Brown, Governor Blanco, and Mayor Nagin.

Furthermore, WTF were you doing on August 30th when Katrina victims were in crisis? Sitting on your ass? That's what I thought. True, it isn't your job, but at least Bushie wasn't sitting on his ass. The State governments are responsible for declaring a Federal Emergency Disaster before the feds can get involved.

Bush didn't kill the poor blacks, the racist white Louisiana government did.

"Surely you don't think that people aren't allowed to enjoy themselves while a natural disaster is happening"
The president isn't "people", he is (supposedly) the leader of our country. His job is to make sure that the people he appointed to various offices are *doing their jobs*. Lets say a building was on fire - it wouldn't be the fire marshall's duty to personally put out the fire, but if his firefighters were just sitting around discussing the possibility of maybe going to go look at the fire, it'd be the marshall's duty to kick them in the ass and get them moving. Well a major part of the country is "on fire", and our president is sure enjoying his fiddle, er guitar.

"but at least Bushie wasn't sitting on his ass."

That's right, he was Rockin' out! YEAH! WHOAH!!!

Posted by: sean bonner on September 7, 2005 11:45 AM

oh yeah, your picture is also wrong. According to eveyone, our President left all the blacks in their houses to drown. Your boat should have all whites on it. you ass.

I'm glad you guys have the ad hominem perfected. Thanks for the contribution to society.

Sorry to intrude on the spin with annoying truth, but the LA gov Blanco made a statewide declaration of emergency on Fri, Aug 26, and on the morning of Sat Aug 27 he contacted Bush and asked for a federally declared state of emergency. In his request he specifically asked for federal assistance to "save lives and property".

Posted by: Nymaz on September 7, 2005 12:38 PM

Another annoying truth, according to the NY Times the gov of LA also asserted last year that the levy's were a national security issue and was denied a request for funds to address the issue. At the same time, a contract for over 100 million was approved to build a bridge to an island in Alaska that is inhabited by less than 100 people. Viva Bush!

Posted by: yer mam on September 7, 2005 12:49 PM

I think, looking at all I can gather right now, that there is certainly some blame to go around. The governor and the mayor of course made some mistakes, but when all the facts are assesed and weighed against each other, it appears that the BIG mistakes were made by Bush and FEMA (which HE emasculated). Conservatives are using mayor Nagin's failure to use all the school buses available as a "proof" that he caused all this suffering. In fact, after the storm had passed everything looked OK in NOLA, THEN the levees broke (which Bush had denied funding for repairs), and caused what we see now. And they throw around more lies, like "no one anticipated the levees would break", or "we couldn't act until the governor requested it." If not for Bush's "fifth column" of FOXNews and AM radio to fool the public, he would NOT have won re-election, and if not for a GOP majority in congress, he would have been impeached by now.

But hell, at least he can play guitar!! WOO HOO, ROCK ON!! USA USA USA!!

Posted by: ilyich on September 7, 2005 01:33 PM

Actually, Bush WAS sitting on his ass when he should have been working. You can find comparisons of his actions vs those of the other presidents during the hurricane disasters of their terms. His reaction was WOEFULLY lacking. On MANY counts.

And the guy has obviously never heard of the word, 'tact'.

Posted by: sara on September 7, 2005 02:56 PM

Don't you know the feds blew up the levees to save the high rent district? Fix it? They destroyed it.

Posted by: texan on September 7, 2005 03:49 PM

is the hurricane bush's fault??? - no... - does bush give a shit??? - probably... - will bush adopt an abandoned family??? - no... - will he personally donate money??? - maybe... - will he be playing golf come sunday??? - probably... - does death and destruction just roll off of his back??? - apparantly...

Posted by: oscar on September 7, 2005 05:07 PM

the best thing about this photo (err. . . "photoshop") is the way they are all so happy to see Bush, playing guitar, and apparently WALKING ON WATER!! Holy crap!! Hurry up W, high five that guy, don't leave him hanging!!

Posted by: ilyich on September 7, 2005 05:37 PM

a great article in the Salt Lake Tribune (www.sltrib.com/utah/ci_3004197) reports on how about a thousand firefighters from across the nation volunteered to help with disaster relief/control in New Orleans. A quote from the paper reveals what happened:

"As specific orders began arriving to the firefighters in Atlanta, a team of 50 Monday morning quickly was ushered onto a flight headed for Louisiana. The crew's first assignment: to stand beside President Bush as he tours devastated areas."

These are facts, not ideology. The other 950 or so firefighters were first flown to Atlanta where they were told by FEMA to pas out public relations flyers. Any fool who still supports Bush after this mess is an ideologically-driven fool indeed. Kinda like a communist in the old Stalin days-- always believe in the party, support the party leader, don't think because the party will do that for you-- and I would add, please kill yourself now...

Posted by: your mother on September 7, 2005 07:03 PM

Hi fellows! When do you shoot away this damned guy called the President? You're worth better leaders than this dumb asshole!

Posted by: Jim Huth on September 8, 2005 07:27 AM

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid Americans. {shakes head and walks away}

Posted by: Australian on September 8, 2005 09:07 AM

"We'll rebuild New Orleans to be...the way it was...before all these poor blacks moved in..." All Heil...Bush IS the Furher!

My god...why has half of our country turned into sheep.

Posted by: pmsing on September 8, 2005 09:21 AM

"Why has half of our country turned into sheep?" I too am reminded of the Soviet Union and blind allegiance to the Party-- note how anyone who criticizes the President is immediately labeled "treasonous" by Limbaugh/Hannity/O'Reilly/et.al. Do not underestimate how many Americans listen religiously to these guys. What they spew is so, so addictive and comforting: easy answers. And these ideas filter into the rest of the population, like urban myths they get accepted as fact with no evidence to back them up. But the world is never as simple as the "answers" they spout. Katrina will force them to pedal their "spin-machines" full speed, 24/7, to counteract the obvious ineptitude of their fearless leader. As Jon Stewart once said "Sometimes the FACTS have a liberal bias."

Posted by: ilyich on September 8, 2005 05:56 PM

Exactly. Although there are still those out there with blinders on, here's hoping the "sheep" will look around them and not go by what they are being told, just believe their eyes and hearts and actually see the wolves for what they are.

(there are a few usually staunch right-wingers of my aquaintance who actually are begining to admit how inept and deceitful the govt. has been in handling all this, so maybe there is hope for us all...)
