18:04:33 [kaliya> ok Placesite is better
18:04:40 [[guest]> but having attended a non-oreilly conference recently (two actually)... oreilly is the closest to facilitating "alternative" hoteling, eating, rides, etc
18:04:51 [shadowstorm> sweet, free router code from placesite
18:04:51 [kaliya> router code under GPL this month
18:04:59 [[guest]> some conferences don't even give a heads up on what food will be there
18:05:10 [BigD> i was hoping Joel would have some rants
18:05:15 [jonl> alternative eating?
18:05:22 [MutinyFreechoad> i thought it was interesting that the etech website linked to whole foods up in hillcrest (that my room-mate works at) when there is a Ralph's maybe 2 blocks away.
18:05:23 [BigD> sounds like i shoulda gone to microformat
18:05:33 [[guest]> a list, "by locals" that's not just hotel places, of places to eat
18:05:41 [AvantBard> BigD: i too was disappointed with joel
18:05:55 [KevinMarks> is 'alternative eating' a euphemism for drinking?
18:05:56 [AvantBard> and his helper was a script reader. bah
18:05:57 [jeffchr> ditto on shoulda done microformats. joel was too elementary
18:06:00 [nzadrozny> i was disappointed by not having a chair ;)
18:06:01 [danhon> but do people go to cafes to meet people?
18:06:03 [mattb> i'm not really seeing what microformats specifically add
18:06:04 [Yoz|microformats> warning: next microformats speaker is a complete wanker
18:06:12 [seanbonner> some people like to eat food, some people like an "alternative"
18:06:18 [MutinyFreechoad> i suggest if you like meat and have a hankering to gorge yourself that you go to rei del gao on 4th st.

18:06:27 [Geodog> not much happening in Joel
18:06:31 [twra2> or rather, out to the hall
18:06:38 [mattb> not that it shows up a problem with microformats
18:06:38 [bigtank|formats> kaliya: your post sounds like barcamp / foocamp -ish musing
18:06:39 [h8ianxpress> turf club sounds good about now
18:06:40 [[guest]> i just meant like on linuxworld's site, they have a list of hotel places

18:06:42 [BigD> mmm, meat

Sean Bonner has been annoying people on the internet since 1994. Currently he lives in Los Angeles and is the co-founder of Metroblogging. Despite growing up in Bradenton, Yahoo! thinks he's the most important "Sean" on the internets. He's sick of labels. This was his blog until sometime in 2007 when it broke.
