For the record - the origins of Metroblogging
It's really unfortunate that I even need to make a post like this but I just want to set the record straight for anyone who might have any misunderstanding of where Metroblogging came from, or who created it. In August 2003 Jason DeFillippo bought the domain "blogging" with a TLD of ".la" with the intent of doing something Los Angeles specific with it. He was moving to LA and had some ideas. I'd only moved to Los Angeles myself a few years earlier and had some ideas of my own. Jason and I started talking about some kind of group blog pulling together some cool bloggers in LA and we started looking around for people who might be interested in being a part of a project like that. A few months of work later, and at the end of November 2003 we launched www.blogging.la. When we launched the first post on that site was made by Jason. A little more than 6 months later, in mid June 2004, we expanded the idea from one city, to several cities forming a network we called Metroblogging. It's been growing ever since, but every step of the way Jason has been as much a part of things as I have, and there should be no question that none of this would have been possible with out him. This story, with less detail, is documented in the Wikipedia entry on Metroblogging.

Although I don't mention it, I have to say that being invited and being one of the original writers of bloggingLA is in my top 10 proudest moments. That of course does not count anything having to do with the opposite sex.
