Five things you didn't know about me
Earlier this week I started seeing this meme running around and sure enough, over the weekend, Greg tagged me. Of course, people who have been reading my blog for a few years might remember a post I made just over 3 years ago about 10 things no one knows about me, of course I only came up with 8 but I can't use any of those because they are already out in the public. So I gotta come up with 5 more things, bringing the grand total of deep dark secrets revealed to the world to 13. Oh joy.
- When I was a kid I wanted a pet snake, my mom said "no" and my dad, in classic divorced parent trying to win points fashion said "yes." I lived with my mother in Florida while my father was in Maryland but every week when I talked to him on the phone he'd tell me what my pet snake was up to, tell me about his cage and what he'd fed him that week. When summer came and I was going to visit my dad I was so psyched to finally get to play with my pet snake. Except when I got there he showed me an empty cage and said the snake had escaped just the day before I got there. Drat! I think I spent most of that trip looking around the house for my lost pet snake, and it wasn't until I got back to Florida that I realized it never really existed.
- For several months I was the art director for a right wing tabloid magazine in Florida called National Crime Monthly. I think the only reason I got it was because I actually knew what Quark was, but it was the first design job I ever applied for and I was happy to do it. I designed the covers which were on news stands across the country. A year or two later I responded to an ad in the paper for used computer equipment and it was that office selling off everything. I picked up a Mac Classic for a few hundred bucks which was the first computer I ever bought for an employee - at that point it was for the shipping dept at Blindspot Mailorder.
- I was suspended for a week in High School for having a gun on campus. It was a BB gun. It was broken. It was in the side compartment of my scooter parked in the campus lot. I'd only gotten it that morning when I traded a friend a pair of shoes for it. If that had happened a few years later (post columbine) I probably would have ended up in jail.
- When I worked at Playboy I conceived and art directed a shoot where I brought in a bunch of old giant Japanese robot toys and posed them around a rather short naked model. It raised quite a ruckus in the Japanese toy collecting community and photos from that shoot still turn up from time to time.
- I'm obsessed with dessert. Caryn knows this but most other folks don't. Usually I have to have something sweet after dinner or I go nuts. Ice Cream or cookies are the usual fare. But I thought it was getting out of hand and I just quit, I haven't had any dessert since Dec 1.
OK, that's it for me. Who gets tagged now? Wil, Jason, Caryn, Alina, Posh
schwing! my friend Kim just convinced me and Amy to make a special, late-night trip to Canale just for the flan. it was worth it! (er, for when you start eating dessert again.) plus i found out bubbles on the wire (www.myspace.com/andreroyo) owns the place.

I remember you telling me about number 3. And normally, I'm quite the supporter of people trying to quit drinking, smoking, etc. But 5 is just crazy. I cannot condone that. Do not be surprised to find something at your doorstep.
