Inviting Drama
Dear Everyone who either got an invite or didn't to Foo Camp, Pownce, Dopplr, Gmail, etc..,
Please STFU.
You are just as cool and relevant and important, or just as not cool or not relevant or not important as you were before you received or didn't receive an invite. It makes no difference and it's not a commentary about you, and it doesn't change anything about you. Life will go on for you tomorrow the same way it would have yesterday before you realized you wanted one of these invites and get one or didn't. I'm so totally sick of hearing half my friends spend all day moping every time one of these things come out and they don't get an invite as if it's some kind of overreaching commentary about their self worth. Your value isn't tied to what beta invites you receive.

I did not get invited to Seven Grand last night. I am starting my own own bar, Eight Grand, and you are not invited.

Maybe I'd be offended if I had a fucking clue as to what those things were.

Isn't there one of these stupid conferences every single week? It sure seems like it from the endless flow of blog posts and flickr photos of nerds standing around in badges. It's like a big circle jerk to reassure everyone that they are properly tech-hip and groovy. It's like church for people who think they are too smart to go to church. What a waste of time and resources. I bet the same jerks that fly somewhere every weekend for one of these things would be only to happy to lecture me about my carbon footprint, too.
Isn't there some work that needs to be done or something?
